A safety inspection is required for ALL vehicles registered with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. A safety inspection is valid for 90-days from the date of inspection. Items inspected for proper operation: Accessory Lights, Directional Lights, Exhaust, Foot Brake, Headlights, Horn, Parking Brake, Rearview Mirror, Steering, Tires, Windshield Wipers (Window Tint test is an additional $10.00)
An emission test/inspection is required for most gasoline powered motor vehicles registered with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Diesel vehicles and gas engine vehicles less than 3 years old with fewer than 70,000 miles are exempt from emission testing.
